Is the task too difficult?

1 Kings 6:11-13 The word of God came to Solomon saying, "About this Temple that you are building - what's important is that you live the way I've set before you and do what I tell you, following my instructions carefully and obediently. Then I'll complete in you the promise I made to David, your father. I'll personally take up residence among the Israelites - I won't desert my people."

The task of building this temple was intimidating. But God wasn't intimidated. God was focused on Solomon's heart. God directed Solomon to live right, to listen carefully and to obey quickly. God followed these instructions with a reminder that He would fulfill the promise he had made to Solomon's dad, David. God would choose to take up personal residence with his people.

I wonder what task seems intimidating to you today?

What details or overwhelming plan has God laid on your heart to accomplish through his empowerment?

The temple was important to God, but the condition of Solomon's heart was more important.

The same is true for you.

Your task is important. You may have a temple to build, and frankly you may feel overwhelmed by the requirements or the details involved. God cares about your work, but may be saying to you today, "About this temple you are building - what's really important is the condition of your heart." Are you living an upright life? Are you listening carefully to God's voice and his prompting? Are you obeying quickly? It would be wise to attend to these matters, because they are at the heart of God's desires. Let God return your focus to what matters most.

God made specific promises to David, but let me remind you that God has made promises to you, too. If He has spoken it, He will be faithful to fulfill it. God is capable of accomplishing the impossible! Set the task that seems overwhelming into his palms and entrust the responsibility to his care. Your responsibility is to live uprightly, to listen carefully and to obey quickly. His job is to move the mountains, order the universe and achieve the impossible!
