Gospel Vocalists? Yes Please!
UMMMM,,,,,
Dreams are coming true! I write songs that NEED Gospel Vocalists...and let me tell you...we found them! By the time Jeremy got to the recording studio last night, we had already rehearsed the first section of music and started recording. I snuck him into the room in between takes. They started singing and I looked at Jeremy to see what he thought. His face said it all. We were only 10 seconds in and his eyes were brimming with tears. What a gift to be in that room to see vision become sound! It was like that moment in the delivery room when we finally got to see the baby. Absolutely surreal.
When Billy J Walsh and I met up with Ivan Johnson a few weeks ago to ask him to create and produce the backing vocals, I knew this was going to be something real special. I'll tell you, one of the most joyful things was watching him teach and conduct the singers. He'd be demonstrating the parts and get so excited, waving his arms and moving the music. His eyes would get super big and his smile would get even bigger. Somehow, he and Josh, the sound engineer, developed their own language almost immediately. They weren't even in the same room, but they were in sync. it was wild!
And oh yes, the vocalists! The sound in that studio was JOY unleashed! Bright, crisp, clear vocals. Gorgeous tone. Impeccable phrasing. Non-stop energy, (even though they sang for basically 5 hours!) These folks were kind, confident and super talented. Thank you Quintina, for singing those sweet alto lines AND for bringing Jamel, James, Brittany, Mona Leah and Marquisha with you!
We aren't at the finish line yet. but we are getting cloooooooose! Here's what's left before we can master and publish....B3 organ on one song, violin on 2 songs and my vocals on 3 songs........ EEEK!
Stayed tuned in for updates!
All my love
Amy
